Tasked with creating a beverage design that would appeal to 20 somethings with plenty of disposable income, I found myself drawn to the idea of premium tonic water. Tonic water was born during Queen Victoria's reign as Empress of India, hence the namesake. Each flavor variation has its own unique empress illustration--Alexandra on the blueberry label and Victoria on the lime--with a subtle reference to the esoteric style of a specific tarot Empress card. A watermarked Cinchona branch, the tree from which tonic water's defining ingredient quinine is derived, resides neatly behind the empress illustration. The 4-pack bottle carrier cleanly showcases the brand logo on the front, and gives a brief introduction to the company with an explanation of the Empress name on the back.
